While you were sleeping

Did you ever look out your bedroom window in the middle of the night, onto your yard, which is brightly lit by the full moon. I live in a hemlock forest, with a decent sized river behind the house. I always imagine all the comings and goings of the forest critters while I sleep. Yet when I get up for that drink of water at 3 am and glance out there, I never catch one of them in the act of nibbling my Laurel bushes or cavorting on the lawn. This painting is what I imagine is going on as soon as I turn my back!
